Dance Performance Theatre, Richards Building

The BYU Ballroom Dance Touring Company debuts their 2021-22 theatrical production that will be presented on tour nationally and internationally this year. This premier dance company of 32 dancers, represents the highest caliber of ensemble ballroom dancing in the country. This highly entertaining production seamlessly presents classical ballroom and rhythmical latin dances in an artistic, theatrical, and creative environment.

Nathan Balser, artistic director Since entering the world stage at Japan's Expo '70, the Young Ambassadors have performed their vibrant blend of song and dance in 67 nations of the world. Composed of 20 students, the ensemble delivers a fresh view of American culture through contemporary music, dance, and theatre.

Jamie Kalama Wood, artistic director; Celebrating the cultural heritage of the Americas and the South Pacific, Living Legends presents a vibrant spectacle of energy, music, costume, and dance. As they take the stage, talented performers of indigenous descent capture the rhythms of Polynesia, portray the fascinating legends of Native America, and dazzle the senses with the energy of Latin America. Come and experience these rich and vibrant cultures through song, dance, and storytelling.

Ballet Showcase features classical repertoire and contemporary works by faculty and students performed by Ballet Showcase Company and Theatre Ballet. November’s performance includes excerpts from Swan Lake Act II, Gerald Arpino’s Viva Vivaldi, and a new premiere of Robyn Hood, an original ballet created in collaboration with students and faculty from the College of Fine Arts and Communications. In April, the performance highlights mentored student choreography, faculty works, and excerpts from Don Quixote Act II.

Furious footwork, pulsing rhythms, live music, and vibrant costumes will leave you with a special kind of wanderlust. Through a variety of dances—American clogging, Irish soft shoe, Indian bhangra, Ukrainian hopak, and more—Reflections invites all to reflect on the path that has shaped us into who we are today and to find unity and appreciation in differences.
