World-Renowned Canadian Brass to Perform With BYU Students in Concert

The brass quintet will perform with BYU’s Wind Symphony, providing an evening of music, comedy and fun   Since the group’s inception  in 1970, Canadian Brass has been revitalizing the brass quintet, combining world-class music with humor. Audiences will have the chance to watch the quintet play alongside BYU’s Wind Symphony on March 19. “Canadian Brass has been on my short list of groups I have wanted to bring to BYU,” said BRAVO! Director Bridget Benton. “They are exquisite musicians who fill any hall they perform in with joy and sweet sonority.” Canadian Brass has released more than 130 albums crossing a variety of music styles and genres. Their BYU performance will include iconic works and classic pieces composed specifically for performance by a brass quintet. The Wind Symphony will join them in performing The Beatles’ “Penny Lane” and songs from Leonard Bernstein’s “Mass.” In preparation for this concert, the Wind Symphony and Canadian Brass will be practicing together on the day of the concert. This gives BYU’s Wind Symphony an opportunity to practice with and observe the renowned music group as they practice. Come hear the fruits of their labor this coming Tuesday.
