BRAVO! PROFESSIONAL PERFORMING ARTS AT BYU
Tarsoly band has been founded in 2010 by students of the Bartók-Pikéthy School of Music, in the city of Vác, near Budapest. Several members are graduates or current students of the prestigious Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. During this decade the band became well known in Hungary and in the Carpathian Basin, and received several prestigious awards, including the “Nivo” Prize of outstanding artistic excellence. Most recently, in 2019 ,the band leader, first violinist, Mátyás Bencze was awarded by the “Junior Prima Prize” as emerging young musician. Tarsoly’s first album “Szombat este” / Saturday eve/ has been released in 2011, followed by other albums featuring the authentic folk music of several regions of Hungary. The band also participated in the world’s one and only folk music and folk dance talent competition “Fölszállott a Páva” on Hungarian National Television.
