Nine Student Soloists Perform with BYU Philharmonic in Evening of Concertos

The soloists are the winners of the School of Music’s Fall 2019 concerto competition

The BYU Philharmonic Orchestra will showcase nine student soloists in their annual Evening of Concertos on March 10.

“The Evening of Concertos is always one of the most thrilling and satisfying concerts of the year,” said Philharmonic director Kory Katseanes. “The soloists are the top students in the School of Music, and it’s jaw-dropping to hear the level they attain. There is a lot of variety on display from the soloists, not only in the instruments played, but also in the repertoire across so many periods of music. It’s a thrill ride the entire time.”

The student soloists are the junior, senior and graduate winners of the School of Music’s yearly concerto competition, which took place during the Fall 2019 semester.

“If you want to witness what makes the BYU School of Music so special, this is the peek behind the curtain of its success, said Katseanes. “These amazing young artists will simply astound you.”
