The pair will showcase their unique takes on classical repertoire and beloved pop hits
The BRAVO! Professional Performing Arts Series will present acclaimed piano duo Anderson and Roe at BYU on Feb. 13. A second performance has been added, with shows at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the Madsen Recital Hall.
“Anderson and Roe have earned a reputation for being one of the most dynamic duos of this generation for good reason,” said BRAVO! producer Bridget Benton. “Coupling classical repertoire with fun pop covers is their specialty.”
Greg Anderson and Elizabeth Joy Roe met and began their musical partnership at The Juilliard School. Now with five Billboard chart-topping albums and an international touring presence, the duo have been praised as “rock stars in the classical music world” by the Miami Herald and hailed by NPR as “bold and brash, full of unexpected twists.”
The pair has been performing together since 2002, and their material ranges from Mozart to Queen. Their BRAVO! program will feature not only their own arrangements of Beethoven and Brahms, but creative takes on pop favorites as well.
Anderson and Roe’s mission is to make classical music relevant and exciting for modern listeners across the globe. This season alone, they have toured throughout North America, Europe and Asia, and will be featured as guest hosts on NPR’s “From the Top.”
The duo are also known for their Emmy-nominated — and self-produced — music videos, which have been viewed millions of times on YouTube and featured at international film festivals.
While at BYU, Anderson and Roe will also give a lecture to students in the School of Music and a masterclass to piano students.
