he BYU vocal jazz ensemble, Syncopation, presents I Hear Music, a celebration of vocal jazz and collaboration. With distanced learning this year, the singers of Syncopation have had the opportunity to collaborate with smaller groups and work on solo projects as well as perform with the larger ensemble. Backed by our student combo of stellar instrumentalists, this concert will be packed with tight harmonies and deep grooves.
One of our favorite pandemic pastimes is revisiting our favorite movies. Our concert features some of the greatest movie music ever written including: The Magnificent Seven, ET: the Extra-terrestrial, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean and more. Join us for a wonderful evening of great movie music magic.
This Symphony Orchestra program will include Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, and Bizet’s Carmen Suite No. 2. The orchestra will open the concert with Beethoven's Overture to Egmont, in commemoration of this, the 250th anniversary year of his birth
The trio of major works for our fall Wind Symphony concert are; Shostakovich's "Festive Overture", Frank Ticheli's "Angels in the Architecture" and James Barnes' "Fantasy Variationss on a Theme by Nicolo Paganinii" - a literal showcase for each section of the ensemble. However, there are also a couple of surprises planned, so make sure to tune in!
