This concert featuring the top two bands and orchestras in the School of Music is a celebratory concert of audience favorites to begin the school year. Due to the recent university requirement, all patrons and employees are required to wear a mask while indoors at campus performance venues, regardless of vaccination status.

There is an increasing amount of research that points to the power of baroque music on the brain. The pulse and frequency of this music calms us, helps us focus, and promotes wellness. Come and enjoy an evening of rich harmonies, textures, and rhythms as we explore the music of J.S. Bach.

The fall concert of the non-auditioned University Orchestra and University Strings is a rousing finish to these popular ensembles.

This season's celebration of the nearly 60-year history of the de Jong Concert Hall continues with performances by Hungary's greatest composers, Bartok and Kodaly. Any concert that features Bartok's famous Concerto for Orchestra is an event not to be missed.

The winter semester performance of the popular University Orchestra and University Strings brings this academic year to a close for the enthusiastic musicians.

In the season finale, the Philharmonic close the year with the piece that the orchestra played for the opening of the de Jong Concert Hall nearly 60 years ago—the majestic and heroic Brahms Symphony No. 1. A fitting bookend and tribute to the massive body of work performed in this hall over the years from ensembles within the School of Music and guest artists and ensembles. Join us in bidding adieu to the great de Jong Concert Hall.
