Sky Mountain Light World is collaboration concert featuring visiting Pipa soloist Lan Weiwei, conductor Lin Tao, composers Jia Guoping and Dai Bo, all from the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, joining with the BYU Chamber Orchestra. The program features two compositions from BYU School of Music composers, Stephen Jones and Neil Thornock, and two works by Chinese composers Jia Guoping and Dai Bo.

The program is a fascinating look at Chinese and American new music, with world premieres of the two pieces from BYU composers and U.S. premieres of the Chinese works. The program will be conducted by Chinese conductor Lin Tao and BYU Chamber Orchestra director Kory Katseanes. Concluding the program is the thrilling concerto for pipa and orchestra performed by pipa virtuoso Lan Weiwei.

Plutoids by Neil Thornock

Invisible Mountain by Dai Bo

Above the Brightness of the Sun by Stephen Jones

The Wind Passing Through the Vast World by Jia Guoping.

This concert will be repeated on May 21, 2019 in the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, China.
