Enjoy a Wind Wonderland with Performance by BYU Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band

The BYU Symphonic Band and Wind Symphony will provide a festive welcome into the winter season

With Christmas just around the corner, directors Shawn Smith and Nate Seamons along with the BYU Symphonic Band and Wind Symphony have been gearing up for a night of Christmas music and holiday cheer.

The groups will present a musical setting of “The Night Before Christmas” narrated by Shea Owens, the BYU Director of Opera. Additionally, the Wind Symphony will play “Symphonic Dances from West Side Story” in celebration of the new movie adaptation directed by Steven Spielberg coming this December.

To conclude the evening, the bands will join forces to perform “Russian Christmas Music” by Alfred Reed. The Cougar Marching Band will provide surround sound brass and finish off the night by going out with a bang.

Smith invited all to come, explaining that this performance will be one you do not want to miss. He said, “This is music for the whole family, with a little something for everyone.” He continued, “I encourage people to join us for the concert in person rather than on the live stream, as experiencing music in surround sound is both rare and powerful!”
