BYU School of Music to Present Instrumental Showcase Sept. 23

The BYU School of Music presents its annual Instrumental Showcase on Friday, Sept. 23, at 7:30 p.m., in the de Jong Concert Hall of the Harris Fine Arts Center. The evening features pieces from the BYU Philharmonic, Symphonic Band, Symphonic Orchestra and Wind Symphony. Each group’s pieces follow a theme, including American and movie-inspired selections. The showcase gives a preview of what to expect in performances in the near future. “The showcase is a great opportunity to see what we do, and what we’re planning to do for the upcoming year,” said Logan Anderson, who plays trumpet for the Philharmonic and is also a conducting graduate student. “It’s exciting to have all of the auditioned groups participating, so the best instrumental musicians in the school are involved.” The School of Music also presents its Jazz and Choir showcases on back-to-back weeks.
