BRAVO! Series Presents Wu Man and the Huayin Shadow Puppet Band

In a return performance, Wu Man is joining the Huayin Shadow Puppet Band to perform traditional Chinese music with shadow puppetry. Wu Man is recognized as the “world’s premier pipa virtuoso and leading ambassador of Chinese music.” In addition to her strong roots in traditional pipa music, Wu Man is also at the forefront of performing contemporary pipa music. She is a principal musician in Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Project and has received numerous awards in the U.S. and China. Prior to the live performance on Mar. 1, there will be a free screening of the film “Discovering a Musical Heartland: Wu Man’s Return to China.” The film follows Wu Man as she explores ancient Chinese musical traditions. The film also features the Huayin Shadow Puppet Band. The screening will take place on Feb. 28 in the Madsen Recital Hall.
