GERRIT DE JONG, JR., CONCERT HALL

The Gerrit de Jong, Jr., Concert Hall is used for concerts of the major choral and instrumental organizations, musical theatre productions of the opera workshop, special lyceums, and official meetings of the college or University. It is also used for high-quality recordings and live film and television productions of musical events.

The de Jong Concert Hall is beautifully designed, aesthetically and acoustically. Its seats are arranged in continental seating style with no center aisles. The stage is 94 feet across and 47 feet deep, with a tip that adds 10 feet for a total depth of 57 feet. A functional, handsome facility, it seats 1,268.

FRANKLIN AND FLORENCE JEPPERSON MADSEN RECITAL HALL

The Franklin and Florence Jepperson Madsen Recital Hall is used during week days as the rehearsal room for BYU choral organizations. At noon and in the evenings it accommodates student and faculty recitals, both solos and chamber music.

The Madsen Recital Hall, 108 feet by 92 feet, has continental theatre seating, with a stage area large enough for chamber ensemble performances. Seating capacity is 402 people.

PHILIP N. MARGETTS ARENA THEATRE

The Philip Margetts Arena Theatre was conceived to give the director flexibility of audience placement as well as actor placement. The seating may be arranged in any part of the theatre and in any relationship to the acting area which the director may desire, thus allowing the director control of the audience-actor relationship. Such delicate dramatic values are difficult to project over large distances to a huge audiences. Seating capacity averages approximately 130 people.



MIRIAM NELKE EXPERIMENTAL THEATRE

The Miriam Nelke Experimental Theatre's elevator-stage and sharply-raked auditorium provide myriad ways by which imaginative playwrights and directors can lead advanced audiences through new theatre experiences. The theatre, with a proscenium opening 20 feet by 28 feet, seats 215.

T. EARL AND KATHRYN PARDOE DRAMA THEATRE

The T. Earl and Kathryn Pardoe Drama Theatre is essentially a laboratory for the application of production theory. To its modern architectural design has been added the most advanced mechanical and electronic equipment. Thus, virtually any type of production is technically possible. The theatre, with a proscenium opening of 19 feet by 55 feet, seats 509 people.

DANCE STUDIO THEATRE 166 RB

The Dance Studio Theatre, located on the western edge of campus in the Stephen L. Richards Building, serves as a studio and performance space for smaller ensembles and student showcase events from the Department of Dance. The theatre features fully retractable seating, allowing the space to function as a classroom studio during academic hours. Seating capacity is 336. Beginning fall 2008 this theatre features reserved seating to all events.
