Matt Coleman, director Darren Bastian, director The BYU Percussion Ensemble and the Tangents Percussion Quartet will perform innovating and exciting new music for percussion.

This classical percussion concert will feature the BYU Percussion Ensemble led by Matt Coleman and our advanced percussion quartet, Tangents, led by Darren Bastian. Repertoire will be drawn from common percussion ensemble literature, as well as new and experimental works.

This concert will feature the music of Trinidad played by our steel band, Panoramic Steel, and the music of Bali played by our gamelan ensemble, Gamelan Bintang Wahyu. Come experience the rich and beautiful cultures of these countries through their musical offerings to the world.

As a recitalist, Eric Hollenbeck has performed in England, Ecuador, Mexico, Canada, and over thirty universities in the United States. He has presented at several PAS Days of Percussion, TMEA, MENC, and CMEA state conventions, the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, and as an instructor at Interlochen. Dr. Hollenbeck and the Percussion Ensemble from Colorado State University have been featured performers at numerous Percussive Arts Society International Conventions.

Free admission, tickets not required. Seating will be general admission and will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis. The BYU School of Music is delighted to announce a new concert experience, BYU Blast! This will be a collage concert featuring about 25 various ensembles and soloists performing short, exciting works in quick succession.
