Kristin Chenoweth to perform an evening of classics from Broadway, Hollywood and beyond at BYU
As the concluding performance of the 2016-2017 BRAVO! season, BYU Arts will present the Emmy and Tony Award-winning actress and singer Kristin Chenoweth. In her live concert, the acclaimed star presents an evening of songs from her iconic roles in shows like Wicked, Glee and On the Twentieth Century–as well as popular standards and classics from Broadway, Hollywood and beyond.
The performances will take place May 19 and 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall in the Harris Fine Arts Center, BYU. Tickets are available in person at the BYU ticket offices in the Harris Fine Arts Center or Marriott Center, by phone at 801-422-2981 or online at byuarts.com.
“We are absolutely delighted to welcome the incomparable Kristin Chenoweth to BYU at last,” said BYU Arts producer and presenter Jeffrey Martin. “Her achievements on Broadway, film, television, and recording, have cemented her status as one of the brightest stars in American entertainment. We are thrilled to present her in concert as the final performance of the dynamic and exciting 2016-17 BRAVO! season.”
Last Sept., Chenoweth released “The Art of Elegance,” her first album of American Songbook classics via Concord Records. The album debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Current Jazz and Traditional Jazz charts, and #1 on Amazon’s Vocal Pop chart. Chenoweth also returned to the stage in her limited engagement MY LOVE LETTER TO BROADWAY, at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, receiving rave reviews. In 2017, Chenoweth will reunite with executive producer Bryan Fuller in his upcoming Starz series “American Gods,” in the role of Easter.
Chenoweth is a graduate of Oklahoma City University with a Master’s degree in Opera Performance. She formed a charity partnership with the Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center (BAPAC) Foundation in her home state of Oklahoma. Chenoweth’s accomplishments were honored by her hometown with BAPAC naming “The Kristin Chenoweth Theatre” in 2012. Chenoweth is an inductee into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, as well as the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame.
This performance was previously scheduled to take place in September 2016. All tickets for the original dates will be honored at the door for the new dates; patrons do not need to exchange them in advance.
